Function/Description
High shear forces can cause problems with certain coating pastes. Also for thin coatings with knife systems, the sharp edges of the knife systems are often problematic. This is why as so-called Commabar system (Commabar knife) has been developed. The Commabar system is a combined application system, joining the properties of a static knife with those of a dynamic roller application system. Like standard knives, angle adjustment is also possible with the Commabar knife as well as the horizontal and vertical adjustement. As the knife´s design is accurately definded, the shear forces can be minimized and problematic pastes can be applicated. The curve of the Commabar knife facilitates a deeper permeation into the substrate and thus a better adhesion between the substrate and the coating paste.
